This listing is for the work required to convert your own Leak pre amplifier into a passive unit and does not include the pre amplifier. You will either need to use your own, or purchase one from either myself, or elsewhere.

Any one who owns any of the Leak pre amplifiers will know how poor sounding that they really are. Even if you spend loads of money on special components, they still sound poor. This is mainly due to the EF86 tubes that these pre amplifiers use.

So, after years or wondering what to do about this, I finally came up with an idea. Convert them to passive. This is done by removing the old circuit board and valves plus all the old wiring.

Owners of Leak power amplifiers will know that they need very little gain for full output and using a conventional pre amplifier can mean that they are playing at full volume with just one or two clicks on the dial, which can be most frustrating, especially for the neighbours, that's why the Leak amplifiers work superbly with passive devices.

What I am offering is a conversion of your existing Leak pre-amplifier into a passive one.

I use only the finest components for this modification, including 1mm 99.99% pure silver wire with PTFE insulation throughout as well as high quality Alps stepped attenuators and Rhodium plated phono sockets. All electrical joints are made using silver solder.

The pre amp has 2 outputs,in case some one wants to bi-amp or even bi-wire.This pre-amplifier has 4 inputs.

Most of the controls are for decoration purposes only and do not work. To remove these would make the pre amplifier look rather odd! The only knobs that work are the top far right (volume) and top left (switch). This has been done to retain the Classic look of this control amplifier.
